Saint Benedict is invoked to protect those who suffer any kind of magic. Also, your prayer and use of the medal destroy the enemy’s power. It also helps to get rid of slander. It is believed that the use of his medal grants intuition to recognize the envious and drive away people with no character.
Saint Benedict, born in Nursia, in the interior of Italy, lived between the years 480 to 547 and founded the Monastery of Monte Cassino. In addition to evangelizing, he preserved and documented many manuscripts; he also assisted the poor and taught those who wished to learn. That’s why his order, which had a vast library, became one of the largest cultural centers in Europe in the Middle Ages. He dedicated his life to Christianity creating the Regula benedicti (The Rule), with the motto was Ora et labora (pray and work), whose purpose was to create norms about life in service to God. The monks of his order were called black monks, as their upper robes were black, different from the others.
St. Benedict was reputed to be a telepath and many believed he could read minds; other mysterious phenomena happened to the saint, such as walking on water, drawing water from stones, etc. But what makes him so popular is the use of his medal, which is considered miraculous.
St. Benedict’s orientation of making the sign of the cross over the chalice with any liquid is well known; if he was poisoned or had received any kind of enchantment, he would break. The cross has always been the sign of the Saint who used it as a form of protection, salvation and affirmation of the life and work of Jesus.
