Say a prayer of protection and blessing for mothers

Define “mother”. Mother is mother and period? Not quite. There are many definitions for “mother”. I found a text that defines well what a mother is. I don’t know who the author is:

“Mother: a small word, but with an infinite meaning, because it means love, dedication, self-denial, strength and wisdom. Being a mother is not just giving birth, but participating in the life of your fruits generated or created. Thank you for having you.”

Talking about mother is talking about life. Or generate life. It’s taking care of your cub like a lioness who takes care of her cub with “tooth and nails”. A mother is capable of giving her life to save her children. This fact is well exemplified in the movie “Mars Needs Mothers”, in the scene in which Milo’s mother, the hero son, takes off her breathing equipment and gives it to her son to breathe and save himself on the surface of the planet Mars, which is not have oxygen. And of course neither of them died. As? Watch the movie and find out.

In fact, this movie shows how desperate children are when something bad happens to their mothers, even when they think their mothers are boring and “executioners”. In the film, Milo is nine years old and only discovers his mother’s true worth when she is kidnapped by Martians who plan to steal her wisdom to benefit their respective children. The boy is not willing to give up and goes on an epic adventure to save her from the enemy’s hands, even if he has to ally himself with an alien race and the Martian rebel Ki.

Mother is mother. According to another text by an unknown author:

“Mother. May the beauty of flowers, the sweetness of honey, the brightness of the stars surround you today and may you continue to radiate this love and this joy that you have always offered us!”

Mother doesn’t argue if they are right or wrong. Mom will always be right, from her point of view.

Therefore, there is only one thing to do: thank them for their existence and pray for them.

Prayer for Mothers

O God, we praise you and ask for your blessing on mothers. We thank you for those who gave birth to us with suffering and love us even more for the pain we caused them. Who fed us with their breasts and lulled us to sleep in the warmth and safety of their arms. We thank you for your untiring love, and for your wordless prayers; we give you thanks because they followed us, even though they suffered, through our mistakes and brought us back. We ask you to forgive us if, with inconsiderate selfishness, we enjoyed your love as our right, without giving them the tenderness they craved as their only reward. And if we have the treasure that is a mother still alive, may we do for her weakness what she did for ours.

We remember all the women who are now enduring the pain and weariness of motherhood. Give them physical and spiritual strength for this new task. It broadens their horizons so that they see themselves not only as mothers of a child, but as women who can build a better future for our country, with new and pure lives. May our young women become aware that they can be mothers in the future, and may they preserve the purity and energy of their bodies and minds for the sacred task to which the future may call them.

Bless with special grace, we beg you, those women who desire to be mothers, but who will not have that joy. Help them to overcome the bitterness of disappointment, and to find an expression for their smothered motherly love, giving it to all the lonely and orphaned hearts of this great family of yours here on earth. May your mother’s protective love now take humanity from the realm of brute force and lead it to found the great human family, in the power of love.
