Learn Saint George prayers to ward off envy

This week, the global soap opera Salve Jorge begins. Dressed in cloak and sword, São Jorge is one of the most popular saints in Brazil and, no wonder, appears at the entrance of many homes, on car stickers and even tattoos. Protective, he helps people defend themselves from “dragons”, envy and bad energies. Next, he learns three prayers to ward off the evils of life.

Prayer of the Sword of Saint George

Oh! Glorious warrior Saint George, I beg you confident that I will be answered, in this difficult time of my life, in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ, with your fighting sword, come cut all evil and especially (make the request). With the strength of your defensive power, I place myself in the protection of your shield, to fight the good fight against every evil or negative influence that stands in my way. Amen. Saint George Knight, guide me. Saint George warrior, defend me. Saint George Martyr, protect me.

Every Saint George devotee must use the sword whenever praying this prayer.

Prayer of the Cloak of Saint George

Saint George, warrior conquering the dragon, pray for us. Saint George, brave soldier, who with your spear you killed and defeated the fierce dragon, come to my aid, in the temptations of the devil, in dangers, in difficulties, in afflictions. I covered myself with your mantle, hiding myself from my enemies, from my persecutors. Protected by your mantle, I will walk all paths, I will travel through all the seas, night and day, and my enemies will not see me, they will not hear me, they will not accompany me. Under your protection, I will not fall, I will not shed my blood, I will not be lost. Just as the Savior was nine months in the bosom of Our Lady, so I will be well guarded and protected, under your mantle, always having Saint George before me armed with his spear and his shield. Amen.

Saint George’s Prayer

O Saint George, my holy warrior, invincible in faith in God, who bears hope and trust in your face, open my paths. I will walk dressed and armed with your weapons so that my enemies having feet don’t reach me, having hands don’t catch me, having eyes don’t see me and no thoughts can have to hurt me. Firearms my body will not reach, knives and spears will break without my body reaching, ropes and chains will break without my body tying. Glorious Saint George, in the name of God, extend your shield and your powerful weapons, defending me with your strength and greatness. Help me to overcome all discouragement and to reach the grace I ask of you (make your request now). Give me courage and hope, strengthen my faith and help me in this need.
