Forgiveness frees and allows the renewal of feelings

Keeping unpleasant memories without being able, or even trying, to overcome them, or insisting on a hatred of the past, are the determining causes of suffering and bitterness, which poison our emotions, taking away our peace and even sleep.

The more we feel hurt, the greater the impact of injustice or betrayal, the greater the resentment, anger and feeling of powerlessness. Ready! In addition to all the pain, we are unpleasantly attached to the offending event, and to those involved in it.

Moments of inner torture: even unintentionally, the thought turns to the memory of the facts, sometimes much later, and still causes us enormous emotional damage. No recognition. No apology or attempt to understand the situation experienced. Life follows its course, but something continues its patient work of poking the wound that refuses to close, of making alive suddenly, through a gesture, a perfume, a taste, memories that bring the pain back.

To overcome all this anguish, the only solution is forgiveness, because it is liberating. But how can you forgive the individual who harmed you at work, or the man who seduced your wife and didn’t honor the commitment, or the kid who deliberately passed the motorcycle close to your puppy and killed him? How can you forgive the relative who promised you worlds and funds and then turned his back?

Forgiveness needs to come from love, not that personal and particular love of which most of us are capable, but from a global feeling, of a universal order, that goes beyond the limits of the human circle in which we live and extends to the beyond, for the sources of spiritual energies, generating intelligence.

Forgive your offender, realize the tremendous delay that comes from this bad experience and let go of it, free your mind and emotions, let go. As this forgiveness was not asked and therefore comes only from your own heart, on your own initiative, you will free yourself from this attitude. Your offender will need more time to resolve.
