What is prediction in Tarot? |

Generally, the person who consults the Tarot, called a consultant, has a specific reason for doing so, whether it be a question, an analysis of the moment or the outlook for the coming months. The method that provides this overview is forecasting, which is made up of three cards that symbolize the past, present and future, respectively, and is used to analyze situations from the first occurrence or influence to its eventual outcome and even its consequences.

For the interpretation to be concrete, it is necessary to contextualize it, a question or a theme that will define the purpose of the reading. Therefore, it is also necessary for it to be assertive, to determine an acting time. For example: if the person wants to know how the week will be, then draw the cards whose interpretations will be valid for seven days. The further away the desired forecast is, the more difficult it is to analyze the details.

Drawing can be done with Major or Minor Arcana

In drawings aimed at prediction in which the Major Arcana are used, the images presented by the cards should guide the interpretation.

Example: raffling The Fool in the second position of a prediction, the position of the present, indicates that the querent is in a moment of uncertainty, in which failures occur because of negligence or divergent interests. This arcane shows a ragged man walking aimlessly, with only a bundle of belongings on his shoulder and a staff, barely used. He walks looking back, more concerned about the domestic animal chasing him than what lies ahead.

When the Minor Arcana is used, it should be based on their classical attributes.

Example: the Five of Cups in the third position of the prediction, that of the future, signals failure, hurt and regret, feelings and situations that tend to occur at the end of the period stipulated by the consultant. Forecasts like this one, contrary to sounding as exhaustive, should serve as a warning and encourage the person to act differently, revert the situation and succeed in the future. The advantage of consulting the oracle is precisely to prepare yourself to avoid or at least mitigate a negative trend.

What is Tarot for?

Bearing in mind the idea that the Tarot is a framework of symbols, it is easy to see that it basically works as a representation of situations or people. In the forecast approach, it serves to predict the future, analyze past events and assess what is at stake in the present, but always depending on the context in which it is used. Guidance, on the other hand, analyzes the cards, associating them with the stages we are in at a certain moment and how we can solve problems, take the right actions and enjoy what is important.
