Here in Brazil, Children’s Day was created by a politician to celebrate the day of the “baixinhos”. Federal deputy Galdino do Valle Filho had the idea of ​​creating a day in honor of children in the 1920s. The deputies approved and the 12th of October was made official as Children’s Day by President Arthur Bernardes, through decree nº 4867, of November 5, 1924.

But, only in 1960, in a marketing campaign made by a company of toys and another one of personal hygiene, the “Week of the Robust Baby”, to increase its sales, is that the date started to be celebrated. The strategy worked, because since then, Children’s Day is celebrated with many gifts! From then on, October 12th became an important date for the children’s toys and gifts sector.
