Personal mandala empowers your potentials |

Creating a personal mandala can be a good way to help you overcome life’s challenges, strengthen your potentials and get to know yourself better. Working with drawing and painting this material is therapeutic, as it clears our emotions and helps us face our fears and blockages. During the process of drawing the mandala, you create a connection with yourself, as you are not observing yourself, your attention is – albeit unconsciously – in contact with your essence.

The forms present in your mandala can reveal which situations are most conflicting at the moment, whether with yourself, in relationships, at work or in the family, for example. The intuitive choice of colors you make to make the mandala can represent aspects of the emotional states of each one involved in the conflicts. It’s interesting to work the colors freely, letting them flow, without thinking too much about the tones that will be used.

How to make a mandala?

I always say in my workshops and classes that everyone can draw a mandala. For this, you will only need:

RulerCompassBlack pencilColored pencils or pens – or stained glass varnish paint (to paint on PVC or glass, if you choose these materials)Blank sheet of paper – or other material you prefer, such as PVC, glass, mirror, CD or vinyl

There is no specific ritual to do. My tip is to put on some aroma, to help awaken your creativity, intuition and bring concentration and focus to this moment. In this case, use an environment flavoring that has Peppermint, Lemon or Lemongrass essential oil in the formula, for example. Another option is to place 5 drops of Peppermint essential oil in the electric diffuser, with a little water. You can also put on some music to lighten the place, but it is still possible to do it in silence. It’s up to you.

With the compass, draw a circle on the paper – even if you chose another material to make your mandala. In this case, then transfer the design to the material you have chosen.

The circumference of your mandala can be made in any size, it depends a lot on where you want to place it. If you are going to leave it on the table, it can be one of up to 10cm, for example, if the idea is to expose your mandala on the wall, make a larger one, over 20cm in circumference.

After making the circle, the idea is to let your imagination flow and draw the mandala with your free hand or with the aid of a ruler and compass. Put the shapes and colors you want.

Don’t think too much when making it, just start drawing and painting, randomly, just like a child when he draws. There is no right and wrong in creating a mandala. The idea is to let what is in your heart and essence come to light. That’s what will help you break free from what’s trapped in your unconscious.

Many people face difficulties when drawing, they don’t know what to do, they are indecisive about the colors they are going to use. This often brings frustration, but keep in mind that it is a natural process.

To release your blockages and insecurities, the idea is to try to rescue your inner child, seeing this moment as a chance to simply play and have fun.

How to use the mandala in environments?

You can use the mandala as a decoration object, on top of the nightstand, on the walls or hanging in corners of the room. The idea is that it stays in a place where you can see it frequently, as this direct contact will help you to work on concentration, focus, creativity, anxiety, among others.

How to interpret your mandala?

As each person has their individuality, personal mandalas are also unique. For a complete and personalized interpretation, it is necessary to consult with a professional who performs this type of work. However, some signs present in the drawing you make can be interpreted in a more general way. See what they are below:

Knowing how to observe concerns the way you have been facing your current moment. Could it be that you are too strict with yourself, thinking that your drawing is never good, because you used colors that were too weak or too strong?

Note that this is not necessarily a negative thing, as a little push to improve something is always welcome. But if the nuisance was too big, how about starting to realize if it’s not time to be more flexible with yourself?

The important thing is to try to create and design your mandala. If you prefer, there are ready-made drawings that you can color. Even in these cases, the choice of certain forms must be observed, as it will still be related to your current moment. After all, you are looking for what you really need at this moment, and usually ready-made mandalas “choose” us, call us.

It is also possible to make a mandala to give as a gift. The way to do it is the same: let the design flow, always thinking about how this symbol will help your loved one. Another option is to purposely choose colors that will help the recipient deal with the issues they need.

example of mandala

The drawing below is of a dear student. At the time, she was going through a transformation process, in which she was trying to make a career transition and felt a little lost, with several options to choose from.

Realize that this is reflected in her mandala, as there are several paths drawn, showing the need for change, but at the same time the fear and insecurity in the face of accepting something new. However, it is interesting to note that these same paths lead to a single place, the center – symbolizing its essence.

And there? Excited to design and paint your own mandalas?
