9 Biblical Advice That Will Sweeten Your Marriage

Making small changes in our attitudes, our gestures and our emotions can have a big impact on our married life.

I don’t want you to think that I have a perfect marriage, because it would be a lie if I were telling you that.

But living in God’s word really taught me how to become a better spouse. So let’s see how we can work together!

1. Live happily.

No one wants to come home after a tiring day at work and find themselves with an unhappy husband/wife who complains all the time and is upset about the circumstances.

“My brethren, consider it a source of great joy when you face various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance.” James 1:2,3

Ask the Lord to provide that joy in your heart so you can radiate it into your home. Let the joy of the lord be your strength.

2. Live in peace with each other.

If you are living in an environment of turmoil, hostility or chaos, pray for the peace that passes understanding. The scriptures say that to seek peace and earn it, you must make every effort to live in peace with your spouse.

3. Be patient.

Stand firm despite the difficulties and adversities of marriage. Keep calm and continue without complaining. Learn to bear what is given to you.

“Love suffers everything, believes everything, hopes everything, supports everything.” 1 Corinthians 13:7

4. Respond kindly.

Pay attention to your spouse’s needs. Be considerate of your desires. Watch your tone of voice, don’t answer or treat your spouse rudely.

5. Treat your love with affection.

Let your life reflect Christ. As He is holy, so must you be holy. Walk guilt free and be correct in all your actions in your marriage.

6. Always be faithful.

Be firm in your commitment to your spouse. Remember your votes. Be loyal and sincere to your husband/wife.

7. Be kind and compassionate.

Being kind and compassionate doesn’t mean being weak!

But the Holy Spirit produces that kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23

So be compassionate to your husband/wife and show humility.

8. Have self-control

Say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, strive to live honestly and godly, although temptations can present themselves in many forms.

9. Love unconditionally.

Can we love without limitations? see what 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 it says:

Love is long-suffering, it is kind; love is not envious; love does not treat lightly, is not puffed up. It does not behave indecently, it does not seek its own interests, it does not get angry, it does not suspect evil;

Rejoice not with injustice, but rejoicing in the truth; Everything suffers, everything believes, everything hopes, everything supports.

The love never fails; but if there are prophecies, they will be annihilated; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is science, it will disappear.

Ask God to guide you, strengthen you and give you wisdom to cultivate these fruits in your marriage, so that it becomes sweeter every day!
