Words that heal, words that hurt

How much do you care about the words that come out of your mouth? How much better would our lives be if everyone cared about the effects of their words?

Today I found myself thinking about the number of incredibly beautiful girls, each in their own way, but who have already confessed to me that they are not satisfied with their appearance. In the vast majority of cases, negative words and oppressive criticism have led them to not see and value the most beautiful and attractive points they have.

Something that I never accepted and that never entered my head was a certain consensus of the male universe: “If you praise a woman too much, she will think about herself and will never give you any attention, they like those who mistreat them”, that for me always was a big and cunning lie told to our generation in which many bought without realizing that in the long run no woman can bear to be diminished, annulled and mistreated.

This type of speech produces hurt, deep wounds and distorts the identity, a real time bomb.

I myself hate, as much as many are true, a criticism delivered without due love in words, oppressive criticism, which in the end is extremely counterproductive and hurts us. Different from sincere praise, words of motivation or even criticism, as long as they are made with love and not in tones of demand.

In Proverbs 12:18 says: “There are words that hurt like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings health.” May we seek God’s wisdom to speak words that heal instead of words that hurt.
