With the end of Daylight Saving Time, should you set your clock forward or backward?

O DST ends at 11:59 pm on Saturday, February 16th – to the sadness of many and the joy of many others. The adjustment to the clock, made in mid-October and which takes place in ten states of Brazil and the Federal District, aims to minimize the overload in electricity consumption. With the end of daylight saving time, clocks need to be adjusted again – but Is it right to advance or delay?

O correct, at the end of summer time, it is turn back the clock in one hour. That is, when it strikes 23:59 on the 16th, adjust your clock so that it reads 23:00 again. This is the moment when you “recover” the “lost” time when daylight saving time started. This applies to the states of Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Holy Spirit, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, Goias, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul and Federal District.

With that – and with the end of the hottest season of the year approaching – the days begin to get shorter. If currently in São Paulo sunset has been around 7:45 pm, it will now be at 6:45 pm, and progressively earlier. Sunrise, which is currently at 6:50 am, will be at 5:50 am – good for early risers!

Cell phones and computers, in general, adjust clocks automatically, if properly configured for this. But it doesn’t hurt to check on Sunday if everything is right: sites like “Horário de Brasília” inform the correct time.
