No one knew the difference in the structure of the aroused and resting clitoris until the 1990s, when researchers used magnetic resonance imaging to understand it. In 2009, they performed the first complete three-dimensional ultrasound of the stimulated clitoris, a job carried out for three years.

What we generally know as clitoris is just the tip of the female sexual organ. This little tip, in fact, is just one of its structures, called the glans. Therefore, it is right to say that this is the glans of the clitoris.

The clitoris is very rich in nerve endings, it has many sensory neurons that make it very sensitive. There are more than eight thousand nerve endings on average. A man has only four thousand nerve endings on his penis. We women have twice as much on the glans alone (the famous little button).

What is the clitoris?

The word clitoris comes from the Greek “kleitoris”, which means small mound. The term began to be used in ancient Greece. It was Hippocrates, the great father of medicine, who first spoke of the clitoris. He also said that the woman produced sperm – he was probably talking about female ejaculation.

Every structure in the human body has a function and the only function of the clitoris is to give pleasure to the woman. This proves that sexual pleasure is something necessary for a woman’s body. Men, on the other hand, have a penis, which, despite being pleasurable, has several other functions in the same structure, such as urinating, intercourse and serving as a pathway for sperm for reproduction.

In my clinical practice, and mainly in the practice of courses, I noticed the alarming number of women who don’t know where the clitoris, their own organ of pleasure, is. On the internet, there are a million photos scattered around of vulvas. However, all vulvas are very different and this makes it difficult for women to know how to identify their own intimate structures.

In addition, many women have never looked in the mirror or have looked in the mirror for a long time, yet another evidence that I identified in my work practice.
