What to do on difficult days –

Our days don’t always go as expected, sometimes we wake up sad, receive some difficult news, go through problems, discover things we don’t like, experience personal and professional challenges and so on. But for those of you who want to know how to deal with these days and live a little lighter, come read this text and I’ll help you!

There is no life without problems, but what really matters is how we deal with our problems! I once heard my teacher saying that she met a monk and that he told her that he was also stressed, but that the difference was that he knew what to do in those moments, not to take a stressful life!

You know, we don’t always remember what to do when we’re in the midst of chaos, so, first of all, I want to invite you to write a list, it can be on a post-it, in a notebook or even on your cell phone, with some things Simple things that make you feel good. This will be a little reminder to have on hand, as a survival kit on tense days.

Here are some examples, maybe you like: pet your pet, take a warm bath, drink some tea, read a book, watch a specific movie, talk to your friend, eat something delicious, go for a walk, listen to a certain playlist , watching videos of babies and kittens, listening to a podcast, drawing, training, meditating, playing x games… Realize what are the little things, that don’t require so much effort, that are good for you and write them down!

Great, from that, you just need to remember to access the list!

Other important points that we forget when we are living these challenging days:

Deep breath! Yeah, simple as that! Deep, mindful breathing increases our levels of GABA, which is the neurotransmitter of calm and relaxation!
Remember this will pass! After all, you’ve faced all of your worst days to date.
To think that your whole life is not just this one event! That’s just part of your story, but not all of it!
Imagining the situation as if you were a drone and could see everything from above, not just your perspective. When we are seeing it from a single angle, the situation may appear to have a larger dimension than it actually is and when we see it as a whole, we can analyze it from several facets.
If you remember that the problem has the size we give it. Yes, sometimes we tend to dramatize and live that in an intense way. So stop and analyze what’s going on and see the problem as just a problem (I know, this is quite challenging)!
Even on our worst days, good things happen, so focus your attention on that! I already told you here that even on the day of my grandfather’s wake (which was on my birthday) I had a micro moment of positivity that changed everything! I got a hug that did me so good and when I remember that day, no matter how difficult it was, I also remember that good memory. And if by chance nothing good has happened yet, create this moment yourself! Do something there on your list!!
Plan what you can do to improve this situation, and if the answer is “there’s nothing I can do” or “I can’t control it” then it’s solved and there’s no point in suffering for something we can’t change and it’s up to us. for us to accept and let it flow.
Remember that you are not your emotion! You just feel, but you are not the sadness or the anger! This too shall pass and at some point you will feel happy again!
Try to remember other difficult situations you’ve faced and what characteristics you put into practice to get through them! Maybe now you just need to put it into action again!
And most importantly: Know that you are capable of handling it! It’s going to be ok and I’m with you on this journey! Face this challenge and let’s go together!
