Ingenious changes to replace dairy in recipes –

Those who cannot consume milk and derivatives usually suffer a lot when it comes to finding options without these ingredients on the market. In restaurants and recipes, then, the task is even more complicated. That’s where these five genius dairy-free ingredient swaps come in. They taste just as good as the original items! Check out:

Why can some people not consume milk?

Generally, these people are affected by one of two conditions: milk allergy or lactose intolerance. According to nutritionist Dayse Paravidino, an allergy is still an intolerance, but in practice and to simplify things, illnesses can be understood as:

Milk allergy: “Reaction of the immune system to something that it understands as a deleterious invading agent. In the case of milk and derivatives, most of the time the body responds to casein, a type of protein”, says the specialist;
Lactose intolerance: “Commonly associated with some digestive discomfort that happens 15 to 120 minutes after ingestion of milk and dairy products. For example: diarrhea, feeling full, intense gas, nausea and headache”, concludes Dayse Paravidino.

Exchanges to replace dairy

If you have any of the conditions above, that is, you are vegan, the fact is that you need to change these ingredients in your daily preparations. Here’s how to do it:

In place of grated parmesan, test almond flour + pink salt

Want to spice up the pasta with sauce? Try putting a pinch of almond flour and a little Himalayan pink salt on top of the dish. The fat from the first item will mix with the chips from the second, making it taste very similar to cheese.

Instead of cream to thicken the soup, use white bean puree.

The result is an incredibly rich and creamy texture with added protein and fiber.

Instead of buttering your bread, try cold coconut oil.

It will also melt when placed on warm bread, bringing an even more striking flavor – which goes well with sweet recipes.

Craving a cheesecake? Try making the base with cashew nuts!

For this, you will need to soak the chestnuts in water for approximately eight hours. Afterwards, just remove some of the liquid and beat them with coconut oil, lemon juice and sugar (or sweetener). Your guests will never notice that the dessert is not filled with cream cheese.

Want some creamy ice cream? freeze bananas

The very ripe and frozen fruit turns into a delicious ice cream. You can add chocolate powder, strawberries, vanilla extract, peanut butter… Be creative!
