Start of DST 2018 is postponed to November 18

the beginning of DST – loved by some, hated by others – was postponed by the federal government. The date that had been previously defined coincides with the first day of applying for Enem, the National High School Examination, on November 4th. To avoid problems related to the time of entry and application of the test, the government accepted a request from the Ministry of Education and postponed the start of summer time to November 18th🇧🇷

Daylight saving time has been in effect annually in Brazil since 1985. The objective of the measure, which makes part of Brazil have to adjust its clocks, is to save electricity, making the days longer.

Set the clock back or forward?

When daylight saving time goes into effect at midnight on November 18, residents of the states Espírito Santo, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Distrito Federal, Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná will have to advance the clock in one hour.

Residents of other states, on the other hand, should not do anything, and while Daylight Saving Time is in effect, until the end of February 16, 2019, they will have a different time.
