Sometimes love doesn’t fade, but patience does.

Patience and holy endurance are not the same. Love requires respect and patience, but not tolerating abuse.

Sometimes it is not love that ends, but patience, the one that they say is holy, because it resists winds and tides and always ends up giving more than it should. Now, how can we not offer everything for that person with whom we have built an emotional and vital bond or even a life project?

It is clear that we are justified in sometimes giving in more than necessary, in forgiving today, tomorrow and the next day, and in waiting a little longer in the hope that things will improve. But, Sometimes, reality ends up falling under its own weight to open our eyes.

Love requires patience to a limit

Our heart cannot erase what it feels overnight, but When you lose patience, you begin to remove, one after another, all the bandages that blinded you.

There are those who say that patience is a virtue, but it is clear that this dimension cannot be applied to all areas and, furthermore, it must have limits. We cannot spend an entire life being patient watching how our rights are violatedour needs as beings who need reciprocity, care, affection and recognition.

Love requires commitment, will and patience… but to a certain point.

Patience in love is not the same as passivity

As indicated before, The concept of patience is often defined as a virtue. Patience is the ability that people have to postpone what brings us satisfaction, because we think that waiting will bring us better things.

Patience is also defined as an ability: the ability we have to tolerate unfavorable situations. over which we may or may not have control. Now, when we talk about love, it is necessary that we always maintain the helm of our own reality.

There are those who justify using this word as a dimension that must be assumed.: Things are bad, but, what could we do? You have to be patient. “What can we do if this person is like this? We can’t change them, so it’s best to stay patient.”

Patience should not be confused with passivity.

Actually, that’s the real key. We can be patient we can make patience our best virtue because it helps us better analyze the situation, to know how to observe, to be reflective. However, this entire internal process must allow us to see the authentic reality.

A patient person does not have to be passive. The passive person makes tolerance their way of life, allowing abuse until they experience first-hand how their integrity is violated. And this is something that we must never allow.

The benefits of being patient but not passive

When establishing and maintaining an emotional relationship, Patience is a pillar in everyday life that we must recognize. It is clear that we do not have to like every aspect, behavior or habit of our partners, but that does not mean we are going to act impulsively by blaming them and breaking up the relationship.

We are patient, we respect and tolerate because we love. Because we also know that in every couple there is a time for things to be harmonized, so that everything fits together and we understand, in turn, the needs of each one.

Patience must be mutual and carried out almost as an exercise. I am patient with you because I respect you and love you, because I recognize you as a person and I know that loving is not only loving coincidences, but also respecting differences.

However, patience requires emotional clarity. We must know where the limits are and understand when they are violated as people, as members of an emotional relationship. We must not be passive in the face of demands loaded with selfishness, in the face of prioritizing one over the other.

We do not have to close our eyes to the shortcomings or be impassive to the emotional pain that emptiness causes us., contempt or that subtle mistreatment exercised through poisoned words. This is where patience must fall, lift its veil to see the truth.

When patience runs out… what?

When patience runs out, disappointment comes. because we are already aware of our reality in all its nuances. Now, this does not mean that we must immediately break that relationship if we still love the person.

It’s time to talk, to highlight what the situation is. and say what you feel and what you need. It’s not about evading the problem. If that commitment matters to us, we will do everything we can to maintain it.

However, For a relationship to prosper or heal those shortcomings that hurt us, the effort must be mutual. The moment one offers more and the other only makes excuses, patience is completely lost, and with it, disappointment becomes an unfathomable abyss.

Patience is not the ability to wait, but the ability to understand that we deserve better things.
