Saint Valentine: the saint of love, marriages and reconciliation

as in Brazil we have our matchmaker saint, our Saint Anthonyin many English-speaking countries, such as United States and in other countries around the world, on February 14th, the feast of Saint Valentine or Saint ValentineValentine’s Day (better known as Valentine’s Day. On this day it is common to exchange gifts, cards and pledges of love.

Here in the Brazil many people and couples are increasingly enjoying the Saint Valentineor the second Valentine’s Day. In general, they are couples who most enjoy this date to date. But, many single people enjoy February 14th to ask for a new serious and committed love for their life. In other words, dating and getting married.

Saint Valentine it is also very remembered by couples who are quarreling. It is common requests for loving reconciliation and peace in the relationship.

Saint Valentine was a priest of Roman Empire at a time when the Catholic Religion was not allowed and its practitioners were persecuted by the Emperor. But because he strongly believed in love and valued marriage and family, he held a series of hidden marriage ceremonies so that couples could live in the fullness of Christian union.

My great friend St. Valentine, you who are the protector of those in love, look at me, at my life, at my desires. He defends me from dangers, takes away from me failures, disappointments, disenchantments. Make me realistic, confident, dignified and joyful. May I find a love that pleases me, is hardworking, virtuous and responsible. May I know how to walk towards the future and towards life with the dispositions of one who has received from God a sacred vocation and a social duty. May my work be happy and spread happiness without measures. May all lovers seek mutual understanding, communion of life and growth in faith.
