Pray the modern woman’s prayer to attract beauty and protection

We are on the eve of the most chic fashion weeks in Brazil: São Paulo Fashion Week and Fashion Rio, in which we will find out about clothing and color trends for women to look more beautiful and elegant.

Fashion events like these take place all over the world. Paris, Rome and New York dictate the fashion, customs and colors that will leave the world open-mouthed with beauty and sensuality. But do women really need so many clothes, accessories, shoes, lipsticks and glitter to look beautiful?

The one who answered this indirectly was the singer and songwriter Vinícius de Morais when he said: “may the ugly ones forgive me, but beauty is fundamental”.

Calm. I’m not going to defend here why Vinicius said this or in what context. I’m going to defend this sentence to say that only whoever wants to is ugly is ugly. Beauty raises self-esteem.

Women were born to be beautiful and charming. The more possibilities women have to look beautiful, they should attend. Especially today’s women who are more modern and tuned in.

So SPFW and other fashion weeks are inspiring moments. For these modern women, here is a special prayer:

Lord, help me to never give up on being a woman. Put a mirror halfway between the laundry room, the supermarket, the cobbler, the school, and the video store. And that, when looking at me, I like what I see. Don’t let a week go by without wearing a really red lipstick, a really high boot or a pair of skin-tight jeans. Protect my curls from the wind and my earrings and rings from envious looks. Never miss romantic comedies and good epilators in my life.

Let me close the registers and the windows. But please open some doors. Even if it’s the car. If I feel like crying, make me cry a flood. And that, that day, I left the house without painting my eye. For each PMS day, give me a showcase with beautiful shoes. Since I never asked for miracles, make my cellulite at least discreet. Give me health, free time, silence. And never miss OB in my bag.

In traffic jams, make me turn on the radio and play my favorite song. And that I remember the lyrics to sing. Give me the strength to insist that my children eat salad, say “please” and “thank you”, wipe their mouth on their napkin, make up and flush the toilet. Blind my eyes to the dirt in the corners and the toys in the middle of the room – they’ll always be there, I’ve seen that.

Help me get home from work and still be able to play, see drawings, tell stories, tickle, paint inside the black line. Or just do one of those things. And if I don’t have the slightest ability to stand up, make sure my son comes home from school sleeping.

On difficult days, give me persistence to stick to the diet. Make sure I don’t forget to call my parents and my friends. Give firmness to the breasts and discipline time. Help so that my work is not good only on payday.

Protect my few hours of sleep and don’t judge me badly if I don’t wake up in the middle of the night to cover for my kids. Don’t let my forehead frown so much that it looks like a pleated skirt. And me, a stressed-out madwoman.

Make the sun my personal trainer, my vitamin complex, my battery charger – but when I ask for a rainy day, don’t ask why. For every hot potato in the company, give me a freshly brewed coffee. Understand when I pray for a meeting to be canceled – it’s not wasting prayers for nothing, that’s for sure.

In the midst of all this, make me find time to become a girlfriend again, go to the movies, have dinner out, kiss on the mouth, sleep cuddled.

Light up the bathroom mirror and protect my tweezers, my creams and secrets. Help not to run out of gas, not to puncture the tire, not to scratch the hubcap. Keep the bikers out of my rearview mirror.

Lord, as bad as my day is, make it end, not me.
