Define what is father?

Being very didactic, the word “father” comes from the Latin “pater”. This word originally designated every person who gave rise to another being. Also called parent, progenitor, or even generator. It is the male figure of a family that has one or more children and assumes the first degree of an ascending line of kinship.

Paternity takes place through biological ancestry or fertilization, arising from marriage, stable union and/or monoparental relationship as a kinship state. There is also the legal possibility of paternity from adoption or assisted reproduction techniques.

Defining as a son, father is our superhero, even full of flaws. But because they are as human and weak as we are, their flaws and weaknesses make them strong, unbeatable and perfect in our eyes.

They are our educators, protectors and limiters. Their “no” is to be heard only once. And, if you’re going to question him, you better have good arguments, because he’ll always be right, because he’s our father.

That is, along with our supermom, our superdad will shape our character, education, ethics and love. If we are here today, we owe it to them. If we are what we are today, we owe it in part to them. So on this Father’s Day, I offer my father and all fathers a prayer for their blessing.

Prayer for Parents’ Blessing

I come to you today, Lord, to ask you to extend your divine hands over all parents, blessing them. The ever-present father, who offers his lap and extends his hand, but also the absent father, putting all your love without his heart. Bless, Lord, the father who today receives the hug of his children and the father who mourns the absence of the son who left for your arms. Give him the comfort of gentle longing and dry, with your divine mantle, the tears that flow from his eyes. Extend, Lord, your hands of love over all parents, granting them the gifts of patience, understanding, tranquility, tenderness, justice, Faith in life and in your children and love, much love.

And to the children whose parents are with you, give faith and understanding that parents never go away. They just change places. (unknown author)
