“God bless you, my son.” Who has never heard this phrase from parents or grandparents? This ritual that has been repeated for centuries has tremendous force. For many, blessing is an act of God’s protection for our families and children.

The concept of protecting is not wrong, but it is limited. The word “bless” has its origin in the Hebrew “barak” and means “to give power to someone to achieve prosperity, longevity, fruitfulness, success and many fruits”. In Greek, it is called “eulogeo”, which means “to invoke blessings, to ask God’s blessing on something, to make it prosper and make happy”.

So when parents bless their children, in addition to asking God, guardian angel and the universe to protect their “baby”, they are also sending an intention that he be prosperous, happy and lucky.
