Just stay a little longer

When I know you’re coming, it’s a good day. When I know I’ll have your company for at least a few hours, my day brightens up. I’m anxious all day, waiting for the time to come soon. They said that this would pass with time, but here we are, six years of relationship and I still feel that way.

When the butterflies in the belly don’t go away, the butterflies don’t stop fluttering in the stomach and the involuntary smile, just remembering the person, remains. When it is true there is no time, love becomes time.

When I know you’re coming, I start to think about how much I’ve missed being in your arms this week. In the midst of the rush of everyday life, sometimes I forget how good it makes me feel to be in your embrace, but when you come and hug me, the warmth in my heart fights with me to stay there forever. He doesn’t want us to be apart again, even for a few days, even if it’s not really a separation.

When you come and kiss me, my soul smiles. When we spend time together, you make me feel warm, loved, and happy. That’s all for a few days, but then you’re gone again. You have to keep chasing your dreams and I’m still here chasing mine.

Another week away.

When you leave I feel an emptiness in my heart. It’s like you take him along and leave me robotic all week. You fill me in a way that happiness takes over me. In those moments, like everyone else, I feel like asking you to stay. Just a little more, just one more hug, just one more kiss. But you go, because you have to go and I’m still here, waiting for the day when we go together to the same house, share life and dreams. Together, you and I, facing the world.
