How to distinguish good from bad spirits

Every person can be a medium and every spirit can be evoked. According to Kardec, “whoever feels any influence from the spirits is, for that reason, a medium”. In addition, they use pretentious language and act like dictators, demanding blind faith.

Good mediums and spirits are prudent and only prescribe what is good; the bad ones, exaggerate, blow discord by insinuations to excite distrust and animosity; some are taken by spirits who speak vulgar words, in addition to charging for material works. His action can be violent at times; they speak ill of all people, with a feverish and convulsive agitation, which is at odds with the calm and sweetness of the good. The coder already warned: whoever deceives his brothers will be punished, be sure, and their punishment will be proportionate to the gravity of the imposture.

God allows people to be victims of bad mediums, because even from the worst of teachings, something useful is always reaped. That’s why everyone should always be on alert. From the communications of mediums and spirits, it is important to keep only what is beautiful and what your conscience approves.

To know if a spirit speaks the truth, we always have to resort to our judgment to appreciate, because there are signs that will allow us to discover even the simplest flaw.

All spirits can be evoked, such as those who left life recently, those who lived years ago, even the best known, the simplest, our relatives and friends, etc. But it’s important to make it clear that they don’t always want to make contact for reasons that we often don’t know. Generally speaking, they like to get acquainted with their listeners and with their mediums.

The faculty of evoking spirits does not imply for them the obligation to be always available; they may come on certain occasions and not come on others, they also respect the medium’s wishes and wait for the right moment.
