Healing Psalms: drive away sickness and receive help in times of distress

When we get sick or have a family member experiencing health afflictions, we tend to shake our faith. Psalm 6 – To receive help in difficult times

“Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger, nor punish me in your wrath. Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am weak; heal me, Lord, for my bones are troubled. Even my soul is troubled; but you O Lord, how long? Turn, O Lord, deliver my soul; save me in your lovingkindness. For in death there is no remembrance of you; in the grave who will praise you? my bed; I wet my bed with my tears. My eyes are consumed with grief, and they grow old because of all my enemies. Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity. The Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. The Lord has heard my supplication; the Lord will accept my prayer. Let all my enemies be ashamed and troubled; turn back and be ashamed in a moment.”

Psalm 48 – To drive away the fear of death

“Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, in the city of our God, on his holy mountain. Beautiful in siege, and the joy of all the earth is Mount Zion on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. known in their palaces for a high refuge. For, behold, kings were gathered together; they passed by together. They saw him, and were amazed; they were astonished and hastened to flee. Trembling seized them there, and pains as of a woman in childbirth. you break the ships of Tarshish with an east wind. As we heard it, so we saw it in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God. God will establish it forever (Selah). in the midst of your temple. According to your name, O God, so is your praise, to the ends of the earth; your right hand is full of righteousness. Let Mount Zion be glad; let the daughters of Judah because of thy judgments. Encircle Zion, and besiege her, number her towers. Mark her ramparts well, consider her palaces, that Tell it to the next generation. Psalm 61 – To preserve health

“Hear my cry, O God; answer my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to you, when my heart is faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been a refuge for me, and a strong tower against the enemy. I will dwell in your tabernacle forever; I will take refuge in the hiding place of your wings (Selah). fear your name. You will prolong the days of the king, and his years will be like many generations. He will stand before God forever; prepare mercy and truth for him to preserve him. Psalm 133 – To achieve healing from diseases

“Oh, how good and how sweet it is that the brethren should live in unity. It is like precious oil on the head, which runs down on the beard, Aaron’s beard, and which runs down to the hem of his garment. Like the dew of Hermon , and as one who descends on the mountains of Zion, for there the Lord commands blessing and life forever.”
