Fattening popcorn? See how to prepare it in a healthy way –

Popcorn is a healthy snack when popped in hot air and served without ingredients high in fat, salt or sugar. But, under the conditions we are used to, is popcorn fattening?

POPCORN NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION

Many people don’t realize it, but popcorn is a whole food, which makes it naturally rich in several important nutrients.

Many studies link consuming whole grains to health benefits such as reduced inflammation and a decreased risk of heart disease.

This is the nutrient content of a 100 gram serving of popped popcorn:

Vitamin B1 (thiamine): 7% of the Recommended Daily Value (RDV).
Vitamin B3 (Niacin): 12% of the VDR.
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine): 8% of the VDR.
Iron: 18% of the VDR.
Magnesium: 36% of the VDR.
Phosphor: 36% of the VDR.
Potassium: 9% of the VDR.
Zinc: 21% of the VDR.
Copper: 13% of the VDR.
Manganese: 56% of the VDR.

That comes in at a total of 387 calories, 13 grams of protein, 78 grams of carbs, and 5 grams of fat.

This portion also contains 15 grams of fiber, which is extremely high. This makes popcorn one of the best sources of fiber in the world.

POPCORN X WEIGHT LOSS

Unflavored, air-popped popcorn is low in calories, fat and sugar and high in fiber. This means that when someone eats it as part of a balanced diet, popcorn can help them lose weight.

However, popcorn is fattening when it has added butter, sugar and salt, as eating foods high in fat can lead to weight gain.

Air-popping means heating the hard popcorn kernels, or kernels, in hot air until they pop and become popcorn.

People can add oil or butter for flavor, but popcorn doesn’t need oil to pop. If someone wants to add oil, they can use a version that contains healthy polyunsaturated fats, like avocado oil.

To make fresh popcorn at home, a person will need:

a pan with a tight lid; 3.5 tablespoons, or 58 g of popcorn kernels; 0.25 to 0.5 teaspoon of salt;

Use the following recipe to pop popcorn kernels:

preheat pan over medium-high heat; add a few drops of water to the hot pan; add the popcorn kernels and replace the lid; shake the pan gently every 2 seconds; listen for kernels popping, which should take 1-2 minutes; continue until there are at least 3 seconds between pops; remove from heat, sprinkle with salt and serve
