Colored eyeliners: product tests and inspirations –

I’ll confess: I’m a fan of “classic” makeup. I love a slightly smoky brown eye and a lip with red lip tint to give that color. But even I gave in to the colored eyeliner trend. Especially in times of Covid-19, when the only part of our face exposed is our eyes, why not express ourselves with a little more color in that area? “The eyes are having their moment in 2021 in fashion trends, which totally makes sense given the shades. the outlined colorful will continue to be very present this year”, declares makeup artist professional Jessica Bittencourt.

So I decided to test some options on the market and tell you about each one.

THE PRODUCTS

I received at home, sent by the advice of each brand, these three options of colored eyeliners:

Matte red. The finish is opaque, for those who want to bet on color but without a “gloss layer” on top. The interesting purpose of this product lies in its removal: it is “peel off”, the idea is that the line made with it is removed like a sticker when removing makeup.

Dark green. In pen format, it allows for more accurate drawing — perfect for those who haven’t mastered the outlined technique. The technology in the packaging allows you to release the ideal amount of the formula so that the line is well pigmented without smudging.

I had no difficulty transferring the color of any of the three, this result was obtained with just one pass.

DURATION

The three eyeliners lasted until the end of the day. Before removing the makeup, I did a little test scrubbing with soap and water to see how they would hold up. The red eyeliner, from Natura, was the only one that resisted and it really was removed after just pulling, like a sticker. But it should be noted that none of the others were intended to be waterproof and so they came off after I rubbed them. Personally, I prefer makeup that is easy to remove, especially for the eye area, which has delicate skin and shouldn’t be rubbed.

CONCLUSION

The product was the one that lasted the longest in an “intact” way, without blurring the format or losing intensity. Removal is really easy. At first I thought that the “peel off” could happen at any time, but when I tried to peel it off like a sticker, I couldn’t get the product off the skin. This was only done (and in a very easy way) after wetting the place.

I thought it was a very smart technology, since, if I didn’t need to wet the product beforehand, it could easily detach from the skin when applied on the eyelids, an area with a lot of movement and creases that could pull the “sticker.”

HYPNOSIS, BY O BOTICÁRIO: THE MOST VIBRANT

Undoubtedly the most vibrant of all. If you are looking for a product to do that makeup that will be seen from afar, invest in this one. The vibrant shade also lasted all day and was easily removed with makeup remover.

As the applicator transfers a lot of product, it is necessary to wait for it to dry for a few seconds (on me it was about 20) before touching the area. If you are going to apply it directly on the eyelid, do not forget to keep your eyes closed for that time so that the product does not smudge.

ULTIMATE PEN, BY KIKO MILANO: THE MOST ACCURATE

The easiest to apply, in my opinion. For those who don’t have the ability to draw eyeliners, like me, the pen format is easy and very accurate. I didn’t have to go over it more than once to “match” the lines of both eyes or to fix small flaws. He also has a more closed tone, which can be good for those who want to take a risk in color but still don’t feel so good with colors that call a lot of attention.

Removal was also very easy with makeup remover, which, as I said, I really appreciate because of the delicacy of the skin around the eyes, which doesn’t like aggressive movements.
