10 foods that give energy – and 14 recipes with them –

Nutritionist Gabriella Cilla, from Nutricilla Clinicexplains that the body’s first source of energy comes from carbohydrates — that’s why a low carb (or ketogenic) diet, for example, can aggravate the feeling of fatigue in those who do not perform it with adequate follow-up.

And, if you’ve always thought that macronutrients make you fat, it’s good to rethink. In fact, this will depend on the type of carbohydrate you consume.

“Integral carbohydrates rich in fiber (such as roots and grains) are great for providing energy, because their glycemic indexes are lower than those of simple carbohydrates (white flour, for example). In this way, they avoid blood glucose spikes — known to generate an initial disposition, but in a short time to cause fatigue.”

What causes the body to accumulate the nutrient as fat is the failure to expend the energy. As simple carbohydrates give a quick spike that is not necessarily spent right after consumption, this energy in the body will be turned into fat. Whole grains, on the other hand (known as “complexes”), will provide energy more linearly and over a longer period of time, ensuring you have the energy you need for day-to-day activities and preventing the accumulation of fat.

What if we combine the right carbohydrates with the correct amount of other nutrients and at strategic times, we were able to further enhance the encouraging effect. Check below others foods that give energy (and delicious recipes) that the experts recommended:
