The risks of fatty liver and how to avoid it –

Also known as hepatic steatosis, it is a inflammation of the liver that is characterized by the presence of steatosis (abnormal accumulation of fat in an organ) associated with evidence of liver aggression, which is when the veins of the liver become obstructed, making blood flow difficult.

“Also known as fatty liver disease, fatty liver or fatty liver, hepatic steatosis is an increasingly common condition, which can also manifest itself in childhood and affects women more” completes the nutritionist Marcelly Ximenes.

One of the causes of fat in the liver is related to unhealthy habits, such as a diet rich in fat and sugar and a sedentary lifestyle. “So, people with obesity, high cholesterol or triglycerides, chronic hepatitis B or C, who use drugs that contribute to the accumulation of fat in the liver, are more vulnerable”, says Rogério Oliveira, nutritionist.

Another cause is alcohol consumption. “Alcoholic steatosis is a primary consequence of excessive and prolonged alcohol use, which involves the consequences of alcohol metabolism and secondary mechanisms such as oxidative stress, glutathione depletion, production of endotoxins, cytokines and immune regulators”, explains Marcelly.

Symptoms

According to Rogério, it is necessary to be aware of the signs of the disease, which include fatigue, abdominal pain, loss of appetite or more serious symptoms such as reddish spots and sores on the skin, chills, tremors, weight loss, dizziness, depression or memory lapses.
