Azaleas, ferns and violets: learn how to make beautiful seedlings

Are you going to use a ceramic pot to plant Azalea? Put in a bucket of water for 24 hours. Otherwise, the walls suck moisture out of the soil and harm the plant.

Like us, the plants they also need space. Roots sprouting out of the earth or cracks in the pots indicate that the plants may be “suffocated” and thus they do not develop fully. Observe the surface of the soil: if you do not see the earth – because it is covered with branches and roots – it is time to make new seedlings. Thus, you unburden the original plant and get new vases to spread around the house.

There is no specific period for making the seedlings, as they will be planted in pots and will not be exposed to the weather. Before cutting the branches, remember: any cutting tool, such as stilettos and pruning shears, must be very clean, to avoid fungal contamination.

To have planting success, right after the first waterings, boil the water and let it cool before using it. In this way, the chlorine used by the supply companies evaporates and the seedlings will suffer less from the action of chemical substances. After cutting the seedlings, call the children to help you place the plants in the pots. It’s delicious to follow the growth of the plant and wait for the flower season.

Azaleas protected in small greenhouses

1. Cut branches from the original plant using pruning shears or a utility knife. It is important that the chosen branch is not too small or too vigorous. Look for the mediums. If you have a button on one of them, remove it with scissors.

2. Carefully remove the leaves from the lower part of the branch, so that they are not buried under the earth. Leave three or four layers of leaves on top of the branch.

3. In small vases or plastic bags suitable for working with seedlings, place a mixture of three parts soil and one part sand. Make a center hole in the soil before inserting the newly cut seedling.

4. Cut the top of PET bottles and fit them over the seedling lightly buried in the soil. The resource will accelerate the development of the roots because it works like a small greenhouse. Every other day, lift the cut bottle to change the air. Water little, two to three times a week, without wetting the leaves. In up to 90 days your seedling will be strong.

1. Look at the base of the plant. If it’s full of roots and almost no apparent land, it’s ready to extract the seedlings. Take the clump out of the vase or tree fern and plan to cut the seedlings. Each extracted slice should have at least three fern shoots or branches.

2. Carefully not to cut yourself, use a wide stiletto or a sharp knife and cut the seedlings, always preserving the main clump, which should be returned soon after to the original pot (or tree fern).

3. Prepare the base for the seedlings in clay vases or coconut fiber cachepots. It is important to keep the container always humid to reproduce the natural environment of these plants, which live in tropical forests. Mix some bark and pebbles with four parts soil and one part sand.
