Does peeing standing up really work? We test the urinary conductor

Urinary conductors have appeared abroad for some time now and it is even possible to purchase them through some foreign websites. There are also tutorials on how to make your own at home, using materials like plastic bottles, for example. The trend hasn’t become popular here yet, but let’s agree: every woman knows that using public restrooms can be a nightmare and it makes perfect sense to have a little help at these times.

Urinary conductor: what is it and how to use it

Unlike some conductors sold abroad, this one is not disposable – which for me is a very positive thing. It is made of a rubberized material and, according to the manufacturer, has a one-year warranty. As for the format, the cone is basically an anatomical funnel, made to be fitted in the groin.

The fit is totally external, you just leave it close to the skin, over the labia majora and not between them. It’s very intuitive, but it beats that fear of leaking, of course. And it’s easy to lose that fear: just use it at home a few times to face public restrooms later. That’s what I did and it worked out great.

At first it is very strange, because we are not used to the gestures, but then it is very calm. A little trick I developed with use is to have toilet paper in hand before starting to pee. That way, when you unhook the cup, you won’t have to do that basic gymnastics to get the paper while trying to make sure that no pee drops fall on your panties.

And is it worth buying?

I recommend it for sure. If you usually go to ballads, music festivals, street parties, bus stations and the like, the conductor is a great hand on the wheel. I got to test it after having a few drinks and everything was fine. As I said, the ideal is to use it at home – and sober – before, to get the hang of it. Then it’s just joy.

And it’s very easy to carry in your bag, as the cone is foldable and comes with a waterproof bag. Folded and inside the bag it takes up less space than a tampon.

As for cleaning, the manufacturer recommends that the conductor be sanitized after each use and gives some tips for doing so. The ideal is to rinse it with water and neutral soap, but when this is not possible, it is okay to simply dry it with toilet paper or clean it with just water, a wet tissue or alcohol gel. Remembering that, when arriving home, the ideal thing is that it is sanitized in the right way.
