When they work harmoniously, the seven energy centers distributed throughout our body ensure physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. Discover the characteristics associated with each one and what you can do to make them work at full strength:

Root chakra, or muladhara (in Sanskrit, mula = root; adhara = base)
Located at the base of the spine, between the anus and the genitals. “When he is healthy, the person becomes dynamic, active and self-assured”, says specialist Maisa Misiara. This bright spot recovers us quickly from stress-related situations and wards off premature aging. Once weakened, it is capable of causing insecurity and lowering self-esteem. To calm this energy center, apply one or two drops of essential oil of cedarwood, marjoram or lavender, diluted in vegetable oil or alcohol, at the base of the skull or above the chakra. “If the intention is to stimulate it, use rosemary, basil, pine or patchouli”, indicates aromatherapist Alicia Goiriz.

Umbilical chakra, or swadhisthana (in Sanskrit, abode of the Sun)
Located in the lower abdomen, four fingers below the navel, it governs the collective unconscious, the expression of sexual energy, the satisfaction of pleasures, creativity and procreation. On the physical plane, it commands the body fluids – such as menstruation, blood, sperm and tears – and the digestive and reproductive systems. In imbalance, it can lead to depression, emotional dependence and kidney, intestinal, circulatory and reproduction problems. Hyperactive, overstimulates sexuality. To balance it, mentalize the color orange in the chakra area. Stones can help with this process – use amber or tiger’s eye. Chamomile, tangerine or lavender are ideal for calming this energy center. To activate it, go for mint, rosemary, jasmine or ylang-ylang. The application of essential oils must be done on top of the chakra or in the space between the eyebrows.

Solar plexus chakra, or manipura (in Sanskrit, city of the jewel)
Considered the power center of the body, as it governs vitality, energy and impulses, this chakra is located at the level of the navel. It is also related to the assimilation of emotions, self-centeredness, attachment, desires and ambitions. On a physical level, it is linked to the pancreas and, when weakened, can facilitate the onset of heartburn, poor digestion, ulcers and diabetes. In the psychic field, it causes submission and low self-esteem. When greatly stimulated, it brings agitation. Illuminate the region located above the waist with the yellow-gold color. Crystal therapist Miriam Carvalho recommends the use of natural citrine and imperial topaz. Spread, at the base of the skull or over the chakra, a drop or two of basil, verbena or lemon essential oil to calm it down. If the intention is to activate it, opt for carnation, bergamot, patchouli or pine.

Heart chakra, or anahata (in Sanskrit, center of inviolate sound)
Located in the middle of the chest, at the height of the nipple line, it is associated with the thymus, heart and lungs. Its function is to ensure immunity. This chakra favors emotional intelligence and the development of the ability to love, forgive and nurture compassion. Blocked, it can cause sadness, loneliness and fears. In the physical field, it can cause respiratory and heart diseases. Hyperactivated, it makes the person seek attention and affection at any cost. To balance it, visualize shades of green or pink at heart level. Recommended stones to help mentalize: emerald, green or pink quartz, watermelon tourmaline, which mixes green and pink or red in the center, or moonstone, which is translucent. Place them on top of the chakra. According to specialist Alicia Goiriz, sandalwood, melissa or marjoram essential oils are perfect for calming the energy in the heart chakra; those of pine, eucalyptus, rose and jasmine can stimulate it.

Throat chakra, or vishuddhi (Sanskrit, purification)
Located in the throat region, this chakra is associated with the ability to communicate thoughts and feelings, the development of generosity and spiritual evocation. If unbalanced, from a physical point of view, it can cause hoarseness and otitis, and on a psychic level, a feeling of failure in the power to express oneself, introversion, apathy, sadness and inability to recognize one’s own needs. Very stimulated, makes the individual critical. To balance it, envision a sky blue band around your neck. Use blue quartz, aquamarine, turquoise or amazonite to help with the procedure. Lavender, chamomile, cedar and marjoram are the aromas that manage to soften the laryngeal chakra. To activate it, select mint, vetiver, geranium or patchouli. Apply the drops to the temples or over the thyroid region.

Brow chakra, or ajna (Sanskrit, command)
Located at the base of the nose, in the space between the eyebrows, it is the abode of intuition, discernment, wisdom and intellectual activities. In the physical body, it governs the brain, vision, pituitary functions and all physiological balance. When found in harmony, it brings clarity and creativity. Without energy, it encourages mental confusion, skepticism and fear of the future; it can also trigger migraines and sinusitis. Overactivated, it makes arrogance and obsessions sprout. To balance it, imagine an indigo blue light vibrating in the chakra region. To reinforce mentalization, use stones such as lapis lazuli, azurite or blue sapphire. To calm the brow chakra, choose cedarwood or lavender. To activate it, geranium, rose, patchouli, rosemary or cypress are recommended. Apply the drops to the temples or chakra area.

It is beyond the top of the head that the last chakra is found. In the physical field, it is subtly related to the functioning of the brain and the pineal gland. Herein lies spiritual fulfillment and the essence of being. Developed, it provides the awakening of full consciousness and communion with the divine. In imbalance, it takes us away from the spiritual meaning of life. Overly activated, it reveals arrogance, arrogance and fear of death. To access it, imagine a crown in violet, white or gold. Have quartz crystal, diamond or amethyst nearby. Aromas capable of stimulating the energy of the last chakra: rosemary, bergamot, mint, geranium, jasmine and rose. To calm him down, lavender, frankincense or myrrh.
