6 things every bedroom needs to be comfortable

One of the most intimate rooms in the house, the bedroom is the environment that conveys the personality and personal tastes of the resident. When planning and decorating this space, it is necessary to take into account the well-being and warmth that the place should provide. After all, it has to be inviting, stimulating and, at the same time, that little corner capable of calming down after a tiring day.

For Maria Pia, director of the decoration brand Maria Pia Casa, a cozy bedroom brings together elements that create a pleasant atmosphere. “In addition to making the most of space and a good bed, you also need soft and cozy lighting, an armchair to relax in, mirrors, a functional nightstand and very well-balanced colors, with balance and personality”.

“First of all, the design of a room has to take into account the owner of the house, but good wall coverings, ventilation and intelligent lights with separate circuits and different intensities, which can be turned on in just one corner or with less light to watch a movie, for example, also help to make it more pleasant”, explains the architect Marcello Sesso, from the Sesso & Dalanezi office.

Nothing ruins a morning more than waking up to icy, hard ground. Make sure your first step of the day is smooth and comfortable. In that case, rugs with furry threads are the best. “In addition to being pleasant to walk on, a good rug should be one that is easy to maintain, such as nylon models, which are also hypoallergenic”, explains Maria Pia. Already have carpet in the bedroom, but not enough? Consider placing a treadmill next to the bed.

Use the bed only for sleeping. If you want to check emails, talk to someone, read or work, sit in a chair or armchair, preferably placed near the window to take advantage of natural light. It’s just not worth using it to accumulate purses and clothes.

The right amount of pillows
How to find out this number? It’s simple: enough to make your bed look inviting when rolled out, but not enough to need 10 minutes of digging before bed! For the environment to be fragrant, make an aromatic pillow, sewing dry herbs with calming properties, such as chamomile, macela or lemongrass in the pillowcase.

Objects and collections you love
The only danger is placing too many decorative elements and disrupting circulation. It is worth betting on a shelf or corner with photos, travel gifts or objects that bring back good memories and make you smile. Choose photos that bring back positive memories to put in picture frames or framed on the wall.

When buying, test it to make sure it fits your body: lie down on the mattress instead of feeling it with your hands. When choosing bedding, opt for natural fabrics such as cotton and linen. They allow the body’s energy to circulate, increasing the feeling of well-being.
