17 Famous Actors Who Won Their First Oscar In The Blink Of An Eye Or It Was Years To Do It

Just as they say that a person’s intelligence should not be defined by a single qualification, the talent and professionalism of actors cannot always be defined by whether or not they have won an Oscar. Throughout history, great actors, characters and films have gone without this award, even though they have received endless praise from critics and viewers alike.

O awesome.club wants to share with you a list of actors who managed to win the Oscar in the first place and others who, despite their hard work and great talent, had to wait for years to get a statuette.

1. Julie Andrews for Mary Poppins

Iconic actress Julie Andrews has won over audiences and critics thanks to her brilliant talent and acting skills. The role of Mary Poppins in the film of the same name was what gave her her first and only Oscar, in 1964. Later, she was also nominated for Noviça Rebelde (1965) and Victor ou Victoria? (1983).

2. Brad Pitt for 12 Years a Slave

Brad Pitt, despite being a very popular actor and known around the world, took a while to get a statuette. His first nomination was in 1996 as Best Supporting Actor for 12 Monkeys, and later received new nominations for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2009), and The Man Who Changed the Game (2012), but on neither occasion did he win the Oscar. . Finally, in 2014, he took home the long-awaited award as one of the producers of 12 Years a Slave.

Later, in 2020, he won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood.

3. Barbra Streisand for Funny Girl: Girl Genius

Barbra simply entered the movie business, made her first film, and took home an Oscar. In 1968, this actress, singer, producer and director hit the screens with her role as Fanny Brice in the film Funny Girl: The Genial Girl and rose as the winner of the Best Actress in a Leading Role award.

It received new nominations in 1974, 1992 and 1997 in different categories, but did not win, except in 1977, when it won the Oscar for Best Song in the film A Star Is Born, in 1976.

4. Al Pacino for Scent of a Woman

With a role like Michael Corleone in the 1972 film The Godfather, it’s hard to believe that Al Pacino didn’t get a statuette, but he really didn’t win, even though he was nominated.

In 1974, 1975, 1976, 1980 and 1991 he was again nominated in different categories, without success. It was his role in the film Perfume de Mulher (1993) that made him win the Oscar for Best Actor and, interestingly, that same year he was also nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Tudo por Dinheiro, but he was not so lucky.

5. Eva Marie Saint for Syndicate of Thieves

In 1954, Eva Marie Saint participated in the film Sindicato de Ladrões, alongside the award-winning Marlon Brando. This role, which at the same time was her debut in the world of cinema (before that, she had only worked for television series and films), guaranteed her the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. After this success, the actress was no longer nominated by the Academy.

6. Alan Arkin for Little Miss Sunshine

Alan started his career at the end of his 50s and participated in major productions, but the Oscar would not reach his hands in a short time. After a valiant career and two nominations, it was his portrayal of a grandfather in the hit film Little Miss Sunshine that saw Alan Arkin take home the Best Supporting Actor award.
