Costume designers play a very important role in soap operas. They are the ones who help compose the character visually, from head to toe. However, it’s important that they work together with the continuity team, so they don’t make wardrobe mistakes. Although Brazilian telenovelas are known for their quality, it is impossible to avoid some “slips” in the plot’s wardrobe.
O awesome.club separated today 10 cases in which costume designers of famous soap operas made certain mistakes. You will see that there are several pieces of clothing and “magical” accessories that disappear and reappear from one scene to the next. Check out!
1. Where was the change of clothes?
In one of the episodes of Segundo Sol, the character Rosa (Leticia Colin) goes to her boyfriend’s house for the first time. And she arrives with the look in the photo on the left: a striped blouse and a transparent fanny pack.
The couple spends some time there and the plot of the telenovela implies that they go straight from there for a night out. And isn’t she wearing a black blouse? Where was the change of clothes? Does this fanny pack have a “secret” space?
2. Be careful that the earring does not fall out
The powerful Lívia (Claudia Raia), from the soap opera Salve Jorge, almost lost one of her earrings. Due to an oversight by the responsible costume designer, the left ear accessory was open. Speaking of which, this soap opera was riddled with script and continuity errors. Do you remember any holes?
3. The soap opera should have been called Summer 80
Neon colors, leg warmers, tights. Doesn’t that take you back to the 1980s? Precisely because of this, some people found the costumes of the soap opera Verão 90 strange. Although it seems to be a research error, the costume designer herself admitted that the clothes were not only related to the 1990s. She mixed trends from that period, with those from previous decades. “I actually made a mix. Those who pay attention see touches of the 80s, 70s … It’s all very cheerful, colorful and retro, ”she commented.
4. The turban wasn’t quite a turban
The costume designers left something to be desired when it came to giving life to the seer Herculano Quintanilha. When recording the first chapter, the director felt that a special touch was missing in the character’s visual composition. That’s when he himself had the idea of using a piece of an extra’s pants to create this famous turban. In other words: the piece that immortalized the image of the protagonist was created with safety pins and a lot of improvisation.
5. Clean clothes (too clean)
When the telenovela Jesus aired, some Internet users pointed out to the fact that the costumes were too clean for the era in which the plot was set. Also, the hairstyles were impeccable, not a hair out of place. Indeed, it can be seen as an “error”, but there is a very cool curiosity about the costumes of this plot: even before the telenovela premiered, the team already had 12,000 pieces of clothing, all produced in Brazilian factories.
6. Attention, production! We need a bigger number
As the telenovela Salve-se Quem Puder took a break, the costume designers did not think that the actors could have gained extra kilos. It was the case of Flávia Alessandra, who no longer fit in her character’s wardrobe. “Helena wears everything very tight. Nothing closed,” she said. They needed to do a new test of clothes, don’t you agree? Despite going through a certain perrengue, the actress continued to rock the looks.
7. Has anyone seen a tiara around?
It looks like a tiara came to life in In the Time of the Emperor. In the scene, Empress Teresa Cristina (Leticia Sabatella) is wearing a beautiful tiara. Then there is a manifestation in the place where they are, and the accessory suddenly disappears. The public might even think that she lost it during the rush, but no. In the next scene, there’s the tiara again. Ufa! End of mystery.
8. The outfit that magically changed
In one of the episodes of A Dona do Pedaço, the character Maria da Paz (Juliana Paes) says that she is only going to get her bag to run to the hospital. Arriving there, her outfit is completely different. Was the new look stored in the car? It might be a good theory.
9. After all, was the bag taken or not?
See this beautiful bag? So, in fact, she shouldn’t be (anymore) in the hands of the character Luísa (played by Thaís Melchior). It so happens that, in one of the scenes of As Aventuras de Poliana, two robbers take the bag, but, in the next scene, the character arrives home carrying the accessory. At least, it’s good news.
10. The “magic” nail polish
Look at another “magic” happening on the screens of Rede Globo. In the telenovela Império, Kelly
(Lidi Lisboa) is even fired from her job for wearing false nails. Notice that the camera clearly shows that the nail polish is pink. Either the character’s manicure is the flash, or this was yet another costume and continuity error.
