12 Hidden References in Novels That May Have Gone Unnoticed Even by Fans

That soap operas are a national success is nothing new. Perhaps they can be considered the “soccer” of television productions — a real passion for Brazilians. And the authors give a show of creativity when they put references in their plots, whether from books or even other soap operas. While some are very easy to notice, others are so subtle that only very attentive eyes can capture.

Thinking about it, the awesome.club selected 12 easter eggs that may have gone unnoticed during exhibitions of these works. Be sure to check out the bonus at the end!

1. Belly dancing and catchphrase from O Clone

In A Força do Querer, Carine (Carla Diaz) performed a belly dance sequence to seduce Rubinho (Emílio Dantas). Viewers soon remembered that the actress, as a child, played the character Khadija in The Clone. Another reference happened near the end of the telenovela, when she spoke one of Khadija’s catchphrases.

2. The mysterious Opal “comes back” to chase another victim

The team of the soap opera Verão 90 enjoyed the references they could use throughout the narrative. One that stood out was the use of an Opal — in this case gray, instead of black as in A Próxima Vítima — which pursued the character Jerônimo (Jesuíta Barbosa) for a while. And anyone who knows the story of the soap opera that inspired the use of this car model already knew that something bad was going to happen.

3. A very explicit tribute

4. A literary reference

The script of the soap opera Nos Tempos do Imperador paid a simple tribute to Machado de Assis when he put the doctor Pilar (Gabriela Medvedovski) to attend to a patient on Rua de Matacavalos. The address is the same where Bentinho and Capitu, characters from Dom Casmurro, live.

5. Recreating a scene

In Sangue Bom, more than a simple reference, there was a re-enactment of one of the most memorable scenes of Avenida Brasil. The character Tina (Ingrid Guimarães) dreams that she is in Nina’s (Débora Falabella) place and makes Bárbara (Giulia Gam) serve her — with the right to use the famous phrase —, as happened with Carminha (Adriana Esteves).

6. A “catiguria” woman

In the plot of Babilônia, the character Regina (Camila Pitanga) tries to enter one of the apartments, without the owner being warned. For this, she deceives the doorman by saying that she is Bebel. Viewers automatically made the connection with the iconic Bebel that Camila herself played in Paraíso Tropical.

7. The godmother’s daughter

When Max’s parents (Pablo Sanábio), in Totalmente Demais, visit him and discover their son’s affective orientation, both are shocked. After the revelation, his mother Myrian (Anna Cotrim) says that he should not have gone to the “big city” so that what happened to Maria de Fátima dos Prazeres did not happen to him — the famous Fatinha de Malhação: Intense Como a Life.

8. What a sweet kiss

9. Scoop in the Diário de Notícias

In Fina Estampa, the ambitious journalist Marcela Coutinho (Suzana Pires) worked at Diário de Notícias, a communication vehicle launched by Dirceu de Castro (Gabriel Braga Nunes/José Mayer) in Senhora do Destino. The newspaper too appeared in Mother’s Love.

10. Amazing looks

In the remake of Meu Pedacinho de Chão, a playful and fantasy world was created to portray the story. Some portals pointed out that the look of the teacher Juliana (Bruna Linzmeyer) has a touch of the characterization of Willy Wonka, a character from the movie Fantastic Chocolate Factory — the top hat, glasses and the color red, which in the teacher are more colorful.

11. The same sabotage plan

In his quest for revenge and the attempt to recover his restaurant, the character Enrico (Joaquim Lopes), from Império, puts expired food in the place with the help of one of the kitchen assistants — this sabotage was inspired, or even reused by the author, in the strategy used by Tereza Cristina (Cristiane Torloni) in Fina Estampa, against her husband Renê (Dalton Vigh).

12. The team that conquered Brazil

In Amor de Mãe, Sandro (Humberto Carrão) made some viewers and fans of Avenida Brasil celebrate when he wore a shirt from the fictional team Divino FC, which appeared for the first time in the 2012 plot. social networks.

Bonus: the thousands influences of the “Walcyrverso”

Author Walcyr Carrasco has already attested, several times, that he is an avid reader. And his stories always have a reference here and there, either as a basis for the narrative or as inspiration for specific scenes. Among Walcyr’s influences, we can highlight: the inspiration for O Cravo e a Rosa came from the play A Megera Domada, by Shakespare. Chocolate com Pimenta was initially influenced by the operetta A Viúva Alegre, by Franz Lehár. In Êta Mundo Bom!, the reference for creating Candinho’s personality was the filmmaker Amácio Mazzaropi.
