1. “What is this weird piece of plastic for? Any clues as to what it could be?”

Answer: It is the antenna of a snail-shaped toy. Here we have a similar one.

2. What is this? We’ve been trying to find out for hours

Answer: It is a key fob for a programmable RFID entry system.

3. “Soft rubber balls just under 12 millimeters in diameter with depressions. I found about a dozen of them on the street outside my house.”

Answer: These are NERF-type ammunition for toy weapons.

4. “Flying in the outskirts of the American city of Tucson, we saw this hole, and it appears to have water inside it”

Answer: It’s a mine shaft. The spiral you see is for transport trucks to take the extracted material from the bottom up.

9. “What could this be hanging outside my fireplace? It appears to have gears inside, and it spins towards the fireplace.”

Answer: It is an artifact to turn meat or other roast automatically.

10. “Metal gun, looks like a trigger box or something, found by metal detector”

Answer: Hammer for an old fuse gun.

11. “What is this leather thing that came in a subscription club box? We couldn’t find out!”

Answer: It is a Kiko brand leather bookmark. Here we have a similar one.

12. “My fiancee has this mug, but we can’t identify what Santa is holding. She just says ‘happy holidays’”

Answer: It is a parchment-style list. We imagine it’s a hell of a list.

Answer: These are ceramic cornucopias—they are decorative, and you can fill them with goodies.
