Contraindications

Essential oils and cosmetics always have some contraindication. For example, cypress oil should not be used by people with high blood pressure. Lavender oil, on the other hand, should not be mixed with products that contain iodine or iron. Orange and thyme oils increase the skin’s sensitivity to the sun’s rays and therefore should not be used before leaving the house.

Essential oils and cosmetics are potential allergens, meaning they can induce a hypersensitivity reaction. Before using them, do an allergy test: apply one to two drops of oil to the elbow and observe the reaction. If after 8 hours the skin is not red and there are no signs of itching or discomfort, you can use it.
