There are many beauty contests, but only four of them actually bring together the most beautiful girls in the world: Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Earth and Miss International Beauty. Each competition has its own rules and requirements, but all participants have certain characteristics in common, such as beauty, intelligence and a willingness to help people.

The first Miss Universe pageant was held in 1952. The winner was 17-year-old Armi Kuusela, who represented Finland. The girl was voted the best among rivals from 29 countries, who participated in the competition. The winner’s crown was a real treasure: the wedding tiara that belonged to the Romanov dynasty of the Russian empire.

By the way, the winner receives a prize of about 280 thousand dollars, which is immediately donated to charity.

The newest among the biggest beauty pageants, Miss Earth, was held for the first time in 2001. According to the rules of the competition, the contestants must not only demonstrate their physical attributes, but also present an environmental program, and the winner is obliged to participate, the following year, in environmental protection events around the world. Also, while other competitions are held in different countries around the world, Miss Earth only takes place in the Philippines (except in 2010 when it was held in Vietnam).

The history of the Miss International Beauty pageant began in 1960, in the United States, and since 2004 the competition has been held only in Japan or China. In addition to beauty and intelligence, the girls “compete” on the themes: religious tolerance and pacifism and, in their final speech, they must focus on the need to promote peace around the world. In addition, for a year after the competition, the winner, along with UNICEF and other similar organizations, travels the world with programs aimed at helping children from poor families.
