Why July 25th Is a Day That “Doesn’t Exist”

The 25th does not exist in the Mayan calendar. They use a different count of months and years which is based on a timing of 28 days and 13 moons. For the Mayan people, the year begins on July 26th and ends on July 24th, that is, the 25th is known as the day out of time and it does not enter the count because it is a moment of transition.

That doesn’t mean the number 25 doesn’t exist, it’s just a day out of everyday living. The Mayan people believe that it is important to prepare for a new cycle and that is why it is necessary to save a whole day to forgive what needs to be forgiven and free yourself from what needs to go away, making room to start life again.

In the Mayan calendar, each year has a different name, which refers to the Kin. Each kin is the representation of a day, a person, a moon or a cycle, very similar to the astrological signs we know. Tzolkin, is the name of the main calendar used by them, and means “sacred counting of the Kin”. Next year will be that of the Red Cosmic Moon Kin, which brings an energy of renewal and new possibilities.
