Is synthetic white glue toxic?

Polyvinyl acetate (PVA) is a synthetic thermoplastic polymer It is used in a wide variety of applications, including the manufacture of white glues, paints, coatings, adhesives, and films.

PVA is a versatile and low-cost material that is obtained from the polymerization of vinyl acetate, a chemical compound that is obtained from ethylene. This gas is a simple hydrocarbon produced by plants, but the industry produces it from oil or natural gas.

Polyvinyl acetate is also used in the manufacture of acrylic and latex paints as a thickener in adhesives and as an ingredient in the production of emulsions for the textile industry. In addition, PVA is used in the production of polyvinyl films for the food industry and for product packaging.
