when i wake up with you

I know my day is going to be good. When I wake up with you and things seem to fall into place again. It seems that the world understands what I feel and starts to do me good like it doesn’t on other days.

If it’s the weekend, we take time to get up. If it’s a weekday, we get up wanting to stay. When I wake up with you and see your crumpled face dreaming deeply, I feel happy. I keep pictures of you sleeping on my phone just so I can check it out every now and then and cheer up.

I feel different when you’re the first thing I see when I wake up. An invigorating energy invades me that fills me slowly. My laziness, however, does not diminish, but I feel better before going to work.

When I wake up with you I know it was a good night even though I slept before I turned off the TV. That’s when I know that your strength was added to mine to bring me peace.

I’m afraid one day I won’t wake up with you anymore. And I know that considering this is remembering that it can happen in addition to remembering how real life is and not always only with good parts. I can’t fantasize about a life that might not happen, but instead of thinking about it too much, I try to enjoy you a little more and more and more waking up with you.

When I wake up with you I find myself. I remember what I like again and I remember why I forgot who hurt me. When I wake up with you I remember everything I want to live and all of this takes me further than I don’t want to live anymore.

You understand? It makes sense? This means that all other mornings are just mornings next to the ones I wake up with you and that color my day, fill my routine and improve my life.

I like to prepare our breakfast. I buy the buns, you set the table. I like to see you in your disheveled pajamas. When I wake up with you I remember how much I like to like you.
