Iemanjá, the queen of the sea, is considered the most popular Orisha in Brazil. Patroness of fishermen, she is highly acclaimed in our culture, so much so that her story influences tales, songs, soap operas and even movies. The day of Iemanjá – Queen of the Sea

February 2nd is a big celebration and, although it is a party that brings together millions of people, it is not a national holiday. There are few states that celebrate this date, being more common on the Brazilian coast, mainly Bahia and Rio de Janeiro. Its faithful usually wear white clothes and carry their offerings to Iemanjá, always accompanied by a wish or thanks.

Sympathy of Iemanjá – Attracting Peace and Love

The materials to perform this sympathy are:

• White rose petals
• raw rice
• Perfume of your choice
• White clothe

How to make it: Mix all the ingredients (the petals, raw rice and a few drops of your favorite perfume) and apply it all over the body. Look at the sea and pray to Iemanjá asking for peace and prosperity for the following year. Then take off your shoes and enter the water dressed in a white outfit. Take 3 dives and come out with your back to the sand.

Sympathy of Iemanjá – Having Money all year

To perform this ritual, you will need:

• 7 white roses
• 7 coins of the same value
• lavender perfume
• 1 champagne

How to do it: Take all the roses, coins, perfume and champagne to the beach. Pray to Iemanjá and to the Orixás who have strength in the sea. Count the 7 waves and throw the flowers into the water. After that, pour the champagne and offer it to the deities. Then wash the coins with the lavender and place them in your right hand. Dip your hand in water and ask for financial protection. Let the sea take only 6 coins, as one should stay with you to keep all year as an amulet.

Sympathy of Iemanjá – To bring love back

To perform this spell you will need:

• 1 white and transparent bottle
• jasmine essence
• 1 piece of paper

How to do it: Take the piece of paper and write the name of your love. Then apply jasmine essence on it. Once that’s done, put the paper inside the bottle, go to the beach and throw it into the sea asking Iemanjá to bring her love back.
