We created a Brazilian cast for “Everybody Hates Chris” that could be just as fun as the original

the success of Everybody Chris in Brazil is undeniable. Based on the stories lived during the adolescence of comedian Chris Rock, the series, created and narrated by the actor himself, was originally shown in four seasons, between 2005 and 2009. , many people around here seem to have identified with the adventures of the “little guy who lives right there”.

With that in mind, the team at awesome.club decided to imagine what the cast of the series would be like if it were produced in our country. We selected a team of Brazilian actors and actresses to represent each of the show’s most beloved characters. Just take a look!

Chris — Jean Paulo Campos

Poor Chris! Persecuted at school and manipulated by younger brothers, the hero of the story is brilliantly played by American Tyler James Williams. Our chosen one to represent the protagonist of the series in Brazil is the young Jean Paulo Campos, an actor who was successful in the soap opera Carousel in the skin of the unforgettable Cirilo.

Rochelle — Zezeh Barbosa

Rochelle is a protective mother who does everything she can to keep the house in order and the children disciplined. In the series, the fun character is played by actress Tichina Arnold, who helped to immortalize memorable phrases such as “I don’t need this, my husband has two jobs”. Around here, we think the talented Zezeh Barbosa would be a worthy representative.

Julius — Marcelo Batista

Julius works day and night to support his family — and only he knows what his hard-earned money is worth. Played by the charismatic Terry Crews, the patriarch controls all the household accounts and does not allow for waste. The Brazilian actor we chose to represent this big daddy is the carioca Marcelo Batista, brother of the pagodeiro Mumuzinho.

Drew — Anderson Lima

Tonya — Duda Pimenta

The biggest fan of singer Billy Ocean you will ever meet. Little Tonya, the youngest of the Rock family, is daddy’s darling and has learned to use this advantage to her advantage. American Imani Hakim was responsible for playing Chris’ little sister in the series. Here in Brazil, we think that the actress Duda Pimenta could perfectly fit the character.

Greg — Cauã Martins

Greg is the boy geek of the class that also suffers at the hands of school bullies. Eternalized by actor Vincent Martella in the American series, he ends up being an accomplice of the protagonist in some troubles during the episodes. In our invented Brazilian version, we chose the young Cauã Martins to play the role of Chris’ inseparable best friend.

Mr. Omar — Val Perré

Neighbor of the Rock family, Mr. Omar is a mortician who, due to his work, is always telling tragic stories around. He is a womanizer and likes to win over widows who turn to him right after losing their husbands. In the series, the unmistakable character is defended by actor Ernest Lee Thomas. Around here, we think that the Bahian Val Perré would do well on paper.

Low Blow — Romeu Evaristo

Low Blow is a homeless man known to everyone in the neighborhood where Chris lives. The fun character, famous thanks to his confusing phrases, is played in the series by actor Jeris Lee Poindexter. Our chosen one to represent him in Brazil is the comedian Romeu Evaristo, who was successful for years in the program total Zorra and played Saci-pererê in the first version of Rede Globo de The Yellow Woodpecker Site.

Danger — Raphael Logam

Jerome — Darlan Cunha

“Hey, little guy who lives right there! Give me a dollar.” One of the best-known lines in the series is repeated over and over by Jerome, played by Kevontay Jackson, another resident of the neighborhood who ends up befriending Chris. In our joke, we think that the actor Darlan Cunha, the unforgettable Laranjinha of the series City of Menwould be perfect for the role.

Doc Harris — Milton Gonçalves

The owner of the neighborhood grocery store, the wise Doc Harris is always willing to give Chris some advice, who happens to work in his store during the series. We believe that the character, originally played by the American Antonio Fargas, would fit the famous Milton Gonçalves, one of the most respected actors in our dramaturgy, like a glove.

Mrs. Morello — Malu Valle

Vivian Morello, played by actress Jacqueline Mazarella, is Chris and Greg’s teacher on the series. Although she is kind and supportive of the students, her comments sound retrograde and prejudiced to our protagonist. We think Malu Valle, from Rio Grande do Sul, who also has experience in comedy productions, would be a good choice to represent the character in Brazil.

Caruso — Pedro Henriques Motta

Vanessa — Cacau Protasio

Rochelle’s best friend and owner of the neighborhood beauty salon, Vanessa, played by actress Jackée Harry in the series, is a hairdresser full of personality. Thinking about keeping the character’s fun spirit, we chose the good-natured Cacau Protásio, known for her comic types in productions such as Brazil Avenue and Go glueto represent it in Brazil.

Malvo — Erico Brás

Malvo is a well-known neighborhood thief who starts to plague Chris’ life after robbing Doc’s grocery store. Defended in the series by actor Ricky Harris, the character has a reputation for evil and his face of few friends lives up to that reputation. Would the Brazilian Érico Brás, a comedy star, accept the challenge of playing a bad guy? We bet so!

Uncle Mike — Ailton Graça

Rochelle’s lazy brother, Mike is the “bad” relative of the family who lives wanting to take advantage, mainly, of Julius’ goodwill. In the series, Chris’ lazy uncle is played by comedian Earthquake. But, if this story were produced in Brazil, the charismatic Ailton Graça would be our favorite to fill the role of the character.

Tasha — Bruna Inocencio

Tasha, played by actress Paige Hurd, is Chris’ neighbor and friend. According to himself, she is the only girl who doesn’t hate him. The boy ends up falling in love with her during the series and the two even date at the end of the last season. The one chosen to represent her in our imaginary Brazilian version is the young Bruna Inocêncio, who became known in the soap opera Good successfrom Globe.

What did you think of our choices? Would you trade any actor or actress on this list for another? Tell us in the comments!
