We are made of stardust for a reason: to shine

In his book “The Cosmic Connection”, teacher Carl Sagan explained to us that Human beings are made of an extraordinary material: stardust. In our DNA is the same fiber with which those stars and nebulae that inspire us from infinity every night are embroidered. Therefore, we too are made to stand out, to shine and touch the sky…

Chris Impey, a scientist and astronomy professor at the University of Arizona, revealed in 2010 that all carbon-containing organic matter was produced by a very ancient generation of stars.

Even more, if we take into account that all the raw material on Earth has the same origin, we must assume that 97% of our body mass is made up of the material from those ancient stars.

It is something magical, there is no doubt. We are made to shine, to shine like gold, to illuminate each other like diamond dust, however… Why have we forgotten to shine? If we are made of stars… why aren’t we happier?

We’re made of stardust, but sometimes we live in the dark

The darker the night, the brighter the stars. Sometimes, it is enough for us to look out a window and admire that infinity to find breath and inspiration.

This macabre game, which originated on the Russian social network VKontakte in 2013, is now being played around the world through 50 tests. The same ones that, for various and complex reasons, attract hundreds of teenagers on a journey of self-sabotage, self-harm and slow destruction until finally the young man, in a “supposed” act of courage, manages to overcome the game by taking his own life.

The creator of this sadistic game is Philipp Budeikin, 21 years old. According to him, he shaped this virtual challenge because, as he explains, “There are people who are biodegradable waste with no value for society.”

Russian psychologists, for their part, indicated that Behind the behavior of this young man and his followers there are deeper roots that oscillate between the ideological and the psychopathological. The most notable, the most worrying thing about all this, is the number of vulnerable people behind each device, each computer and mobile phone.
