Want to play tarot? Everything you need to know to get started

An ancient tool of self-knowledge, the tarot is an oracle. Composed of 78 cards, called arcana (mystery), the deck makes a current picture of who resorts to it. In addition, it envisions, to a certain extent, the future of the person, and, mainly, indicates paths to follow – and which not to follow.

Are you willing to learn? We talked with Leo Chiodacoordinator of Personare’s introduction to tarot course and owner of the blog Café Tarot, about the first steps for those who want to venture into this “art”.

Check out.

Study hard, okay?

Leo’s first piece of advice for anyone interested in the tarot is to first of all study as much as you can. “Read a lot! Be it books, articles on websites or pages dedicated to this. It is important to know that the oracle is a study for life”, he recommends. According to him, courses can also help a lot, as well as discussions with professionals in the area.

Everyone can play tarot

Contrary to what many people may think, to play tarot you don’t need to have any degree of mediumship. “Anyone can learn. All you have to do is pick up the books, study, get to know the initial rules and the attributes of each card”, says Leo.

Learning is relative

According to Leo, you don’t learn to play tarot overnight. So be patient! “Of course, each person has their time. But, as it is a study that never ends, it is necessary to make a certain effort to deal with the cards and understand what they say, understand these symbols”, he evaluates.

You don’t need anything to play (apart from the deck of course!)

Candles, incense, special towels, crystal ball… None of that is necessary, see? It’s just an esoteric device that doesn’t influence the tarot game at all. But, well, if you can, just give preference even to a silent environment.

Kick

So, do you really want to play tarot? The first lesson is to know that it is divided into two groups: the major and minor arcana. “The major arcana, made up of 22 cards, appear in the game to represent life’s more complex issues. The minors, on the other hand, deal with matters of practical, day-to-day life”, explains Leo.
