Use salt to ward off evil spirits and recharge

We’re on the eve of Carnival and we’re starting to get to know the samba themes of the samba schools in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, which always bring themes related to the universal history of humanity, beliefs and important characters.

One of these songs caught my attention and piqued my curiosity: Salis Sapientiae – Uma História do Mundo, from Escola Nenê in Vila Matilde de São Paulo, which sings about the economic power of salt and its use in religious and magical rituals, from Antiquity to today.

The word salt comes from the Greek hals and halos, which both mean salt and sea. The word halite is derived from the same root, given to the sodium chloride found in natural deposits, which is rock salt.

In ancient times, priests used salt to ward off demons. In Ancient Egypt, salt was considered a sacred product and was offered to the Gods. The Romans considered salt a symbol of wisdom, and that’s why they used it in a ritual for newborns, pouring salt on them so that wisdom would never lack.

Greeks and Romans, to please the gods of the home, made animal sacrifices. It was common to put salt on the head of the sacrificed animal, to purify the house. Also for the Hebrews, salt was an element of purification, as well as the Christians, who in baptism put salt on the lips of newborns.

In the Middle Ages salt was used to ward off evil spirits, demons and witches from houses by throwing salt on doors, windows and chimneys. In Leonardo da Vinci’s work The Last Supper depicts a salt shaker overturned in front of Judas and pointing in his direction. At that time it was said that someone who spilled salt should take a handful of what was spilled and throw it behind the left shoulder, the side that represented evil.

The Arabs cite Muhammad’s recommendations: “Start with salt and end with salt; for salt cures many ills.” In Morocco, salt is placed in dark places to ward off evil spirits. In Laos and Siam, pregnant women wash themselves daily with salt and water to protect themselves against curses. In Nordic countries, salt is placed next to children’s cribs to protect them.

In Hawaii, a person returning from a funeral sprinkles himself with salt to ward off evil spirits from coming with him from the funeral. The Japanese have a custom of pouring salt on their doorsteps after someone unwanted or negative has left.

Nowadays, salt continues to be used by many peoples with a lot of mystical force. It is used in esotericism and witchcraft to ward off bad energies and evil spirits. Coarse salt and sea salt are widely used to eliminate negative energy from environments and people. Salt has the property of attracting negative ions from environments and people.

Homes and businesses that have negative energy suffer from an energy imbalance that negatively affects people’s environments and energy. It is very common for this negative energy to be concentrated in the corners of environments and at the main entrance door of the property.

Salt is a potent element in combating energies together with other elements. Here are some ways to use salt to balance, protect and purify your home:

– Place a plastic cup of coffee filled with salt behind the entrance door of each room or business. The salt will absorb the bad energies of this environment. Change the glass with salt once a week.

– Place a glass American glass with water and a finger measure of salt behind the main entrance door of the environments. The combination of water and salt is a powerful catalyst for bad energies. Change the water with salt once a week.

Let’s clean up now. The thick salt bath is the so-called “unloading” of the bad energies that we accumulate in everyday life. It is recommended to eliminate toxins, because the salt cancels out excess energy and cleanses your aura. When taking your bath, prepare the salt water solution for cleaning. In a bucket put a liter of warm water and a spoon of salt sugar. Mix well until it turns into brine. Start by taking your normal shower. Then take a second shower to remove excess salt. Do this cleaning once a month.

You can also throw the salt water directly on the body from the neck down. Never play in the head.

Another alternative is to use coarse salt along with soap when soaping. At the end, remove the excess salt by taking a good “shower”.

Take these baths when you feel like it or when you feel tired. There are many ways to use salt for physical balance and environments. Use regularly and good energies!
