Trend: Birthday breakfast

A new format of parties has conquered a growing number of parents. Seeking to organize events that respect the children’s routine and with lighter and healthier menus, many parents have already exchanged night parties for morning celebrations🇧🇷

This was Rosi and Eduardo Schmidt’s bet to celebrate the two years of their daughter, Maria Eduarda, in a different way. Held in SĂŁo Bernardo do Campo (SP), the birthday breakfast da Madu was a great success.

The idea of celebrating in the morning, offering breakfast to the guests, came from the desire to gather the children at a time when they were in a good mood. At night parties, it is common for parents to make an effort to keep the little birthday boy awake until the moment of congratulations. When the party started at 9 am, the invited children and the birthday girl herself arrived at the venue in a good mood and full of energy, enjoying the event from start to finish.

Another factor that influenced the choice of time for the celebration was the preparation of the menu, which should meet the family’s profile.

“When looking for us, the mother made it clear that she wanted a party with a different menu, with healthy foods and no processed foods. Inspired by the service offered by hotels, we set up a breakfast table with different types of bread, cold cuts, wholemeal cakes made with organic ingredients, natural juices, fruits and freshly made tapioca. The proposal was to respect the dietary profile of parents and the vast majority of guests”, explains Luana Costa, from Ateliê ChocoGula, responsible for the buffet and decoration of the event.

Using watermelon as a theme, the decoration was in line with the healthy purpose of the celebration. The fruits were present in natural juices, jellies, fruit salads and also on skewers.

One of the doubts that always arise among parents is related to sweets and cake. After all, should hosts serve sweets like kisses and brigadeiros at morning parties? According to the specialist, the change of schedule should not limit the offer of goodies typical of children’s parties. “Brazilians love sweets and, therefore, we chose to maintain the amount of sweets that we traditionally serve at afternoon or evening parties. The only change was in relation to the cake. We swapped out the chocolate versions for a lighter, smoother cake. At Madu’s party, we served a white pastry cake filled with strawberry cream. This flavorful combination brought a touch of freshness to the cake,” she explained.

One of the fears of families in joining the breakfast format is not being able to control the time of the event. The secret lies in explaining the purpose of the party to the guests and using the congratulations as a sign of the end of the event.

The party started promptly at 9 am and ended at 1 pm. “The acceptance of the guests was extremely positive. We noticed that many approved the proposal thanks to the possibility of participating in a celebration and still having the rest of Saturday free for their other commitments”, said Luana.
