In reality, what caught people’s attention was the fact that she was wearing long pants and not a dress, as was common at that time. The news came out in the newspaper and made many other women feel encouraged to do the same.

Despite many attempts to facilitate the process, it was engineer Alva J. Fisher who, in 1907, designed the first washing machine with a motor for the Hurley Electric Laundry Equipment Company, which replaced other methods such as drums or boards. used on the riverside.
