The dog who sells candy to pay for his medical treatment and people’s heartbreaking response

Many people say that dogs are like members of the family and that’s why they give them the same affection and care that they give their own children. When they get sick, they are taken to the vet and given all the love in the world to make them recover quickly.

However, veterinary treatments can be expensive, often more than what we humans receive. But what about when a dog needs a health service that its owners cannot afford? Today’s story presents just such a situation.

Vanessa Euán, from Campeche, Mexico, owns Deko, a dog who, according to her Facebook post, was adopted by her sister. Shortly after the adoption, Deko had to be taken to the hospital, and after some tests, it was discovered that he had a TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor), a type of cancer that, luckily, can be treated with chemotherapy.

The problem is that, like many other cancer treatments, this one was too expensive for the sisters. Determined to fight for Deko’s life, Vanessa shared an image of the dog on Facebook with the following sentence: ‘I sell desserts to pay for my chemotherapy’. Along with the sentence, she put the vet’s budget.

Vanessa never imagined that the photo would touch so many hearts. People’s response was massive and in a few days she managed to raise enough for her chemotherapy expenses and even received more requests for sweets.

When that happened, Vanessa made another post on her Facebook profile talking about her surprise and her gratitude with people’s generosity. She explained that the extra money would be used for the animal’s recovery. Of course, Deko also wanted to thank everyone with a happy message, putting a super cute end to this beautiful story.
