The 6 great challenges of adolescence that shape our personality

When we reach adolescence, with the bodily and psychological changes of puberty that we experience, we simply can no longer maintain the same identity than when we were children. 1. First task: achieve an identity

It is undoubtedly the most complex and fundamental. Because the end of adolescence means, above all, on a psychological level, having acquired, built and structured the permanent foundations of our own personality.

2. Second task: the dependency-autonomy relationship

It is necessary to take a position in the face of the constant conflict between dependency and autonomy: how much, to what extent and on whom to be dependent. And to what degree and in what situations to be autonomous.

Many teenagers fail at this second task. The current social and political crisis does not help. There are boys and girls who remain anchored in excessive dependence.

6. Sixth task: choosing a partner

It is not necessary to consume and establish a relationship. But yes, at least, a certain personal tendency with respect to how that couple should be. Or regarding misogyny, isolation and loneliness.
