Spell to revive an animal

Spell to revive an animal.

A title like this might lead us to think of Stephen King’s horror novel: Pet Sematary, and we wouldn’t be that far from the truth.

The first spell to revive an animal comes from Assyrian myths, but it was the Egyptians who improved it and used it most frequently, especially for their beloved cats, an animal they considered sacred.

Of course, this is not a spell that actually revives our pets, but rather a spell that attempts to transmigrate the soul of one particular animal to another.

During a night with the moon in its first quarter we must take a handful of soil from the place where the animal we wish to revive is buried.

That same night, before dawn, we must mix it with a few grains of salt, and then spread it on the ground until it forms a circle.

Inside the circle we must place the new pet, a dog or a cat, for example, and say out loud the name of our old pet seven times.

Too simple? Maybe. Ancient beliefs did not have the complications of Renaissance magic. Does it really work? Is it possible to revive an animal using a spell? Definitely not. If we wait for the return of a zombie animal like the cat Church, from Pet Sematary, we will be very disappointed.

Regarding this classic by Stephen King, they tell me that the original plot of the novel included a ritual similar to this, although in the end the author decided that it was the cursed soil of the cemetery itself that vomited the dead out.
