Serena Olvido is undoubtedly one of the most important names in dubbing in Mexico, but despite this great title, few know that she is an actress from the LGBT+ community, behind one of Disney’s most important characters.

You probably already knew that the villain of the sea is inspired by the drag queen Divine, which is why she is undoubtedly one of the villains most loved by the LGBT+ community.

However, in the Latin dubbing Serena did more than she should, as she gave the character that distinctive grace. And yes, she sings the beloved song “Poor Souls in Disgrace,” which was also done with a more audio-recorded voice in English. How Serena got the big star

Of course, not everything was rosy, because before reaching this iconic role, Serena participated in different sketch shows in Monterrey, where her fame began, for playing several characters such as Florindo Rosado del Tulipán who, although they were full of stereotypes , they couldn’t hide their talent.

Some time later, Olvido moved to live in Los Angeles when Mikey Mouse knocked on her door, after the Little Mermaid casting director saw her in one of his drag shows.

And although this meant a huge opportunity in her career, Serena did not accept immediately, as she set a condition: appear in the credits with her name, which at that time was not the same as the one that appeared on her birth certificate.

It should be noted that Serena did not have any other role in the dubbing, but she was in charge of repeating Úrsula in the series ‘The New Adventures of the Little Mermaid’, where she played the character during its 3 seasons.
